World first: Hybrid Image Stabilization by Canon

15:31 Filed under General

Canon Inc., Japan, presented a world first for use in interchangeable SLR cameras: the hybrid-compensated image stabilizer (hybrid-IS), the camera shake for swivel movements and shifts of the camera. USM zahlreiche weitere, bildstabilisierende Objektive entwickelt. Back in 1995 Canon's launch of the world first interchangeable lens for SLR cameras with an optical image stabilization to minimize camera shake with the points to and after the EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM further developed numerous image stabilization lenses. The launch of a first lens with the new hybrid technology is planned for this year.

According to Canon compensates for the new Canon IS-hybrid technology effectively blurring that can arise from unintentional pivoting movements (rotating) and displacements (linear) of the camera. Through camera movement (parallel movement to the main theme) induced blur occur especially in macro photography and close-ups, such as closely apprehended portraits. In standard situations cause sudden changes in camera angle often significant blurring.

Two sensors are used in the new technology used: an angular velocity and an acceleration sensor. The angular speed sensor detects and recognizes swing Mitziehbewegungen. He was already part of all previous methods for optical image stabilization. The acceleration sensor allows the detection of camera shake caused by moving the camera. It also uses the hybrid image stabilization a new algorithm that takes into account the readings of both sensors and the lenses in lens shift so that both types of camera shake can be significantly reduced. This optimizes the previous image stabilization and is ideal especially in macro photography, in the conventional image stabilization procedures have been particularly difficult.

Already in the 80 years Canon has started the search for methods to compensate for camera shake. USM das weltweit erste Wechselobjektiv für Spiegelreflexkameras mit einem optischen Bildstabilisator zur Minimierung von Verwacklungsunschärfen. In 1995, then presented with the Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM, the world's first interchangeable lens for SLR cameras with an optical image stabilization to minimize camera shake. Since then the company has developed many other lenses with image stabilization. USM , das Aufnahmen mit einer bis zu vier Stufen längeren Verschlusszeit ermöglicht. In the current range are 21 of these lenses including the EF 200mm 1:2 L IS USM, the recordings with up to four steps longer shutter speed will allow.

Canon provides for integrating the new hybrid-IC technology in a variety of products.

Technology Policy:

Image Stabilizer (English Image Stabilizer = IS):
Camera shake is a major cause of blurred images, especially when used without a tripod or when shooting with slow shutter speed in low light conditions. The Canon image stabilizing technology, identified by the initials IS (Image Stabilizer for) in the product name, uses a shift-system for recording and correction of camera shake. By pressing the shutter button halfway, the image stabilization is activated. Tiny gyro-sensors register the lens-body vibration and send a signal to a microcomputer, which in turn controls a stabilizing element to compensate for the movements along the horizontal and vertical axes of the camera. To avoid that intentional panning and tilting camera shake is regarded as a mistake, some tele-working mode and telephoto zoom lenses with IS-2 Some lenses selected mode is automatically activated the IS-second Takes a movement in one direction longer than a predetermined time, in such case, the image stabilizer is turned off for this motion.

EF lenses with IS technology enable precise, brilliant images with up to four stops slower shutter speed than conventional lenses - ideal for situations where flash photography is not permitted or desired.

This is really a great innovation! I'm often in a very hectic work environments and photos include it, it is often difficult to generate wobble images. The normal image stabilization helps out, but unfortunately not enough frequently. I will try out a camera with this technique in any case and make myself an idea of how much she really does! Sounds at least very interesting!
