Grey seals on the dunes near Helgoland

Filed under visual images , panoramas

In the past 10 years has focused on sister island of Helgoland "Dune" established a colony of gray seals and also nurseries for young animals. The conditions on this dune offer the photographer the opportunity to come particularly close to the animals.

As opposed to gray seals seals on the German coasts are very rare, there is already a rarity, so many of them to see on a beach. The total stock of gray seals in Schleswig-Holstein North Sea waters is estimated at about 150 to 200 animals. Grey seals are considerably larger than seals. An adult male can be up to 2.3 meters long and 220 kilograms well be difficult.

Since gray seals are aggressive predators, we recommend a due distance (gray seals are often hurt each other even when they get too close). Nowhere, however, one can observe these animals in so short a distance. From just 40 meters I could (based on the image) of the recordings with focal lengths between 400 and 800 mm implement.

New stage for panoramas

On Fotomanisch.de I have already presented in the past like panorama shots. Unfortunately these were not always to advantage as I would have liked. This has motivated me to create a new platform for panoramic photos: panovista.de .

Panoramas are but because of their unusual size and special requirements to view the layout of a web page. The images are often extremely large (in my cases up to 5 gigabytes), and show significantly more than the usual field of vision. Here's why special software is needed. After some time of preparation and programming now, the first panoramic photos are on display.

I hope you enjoy discovering the special and I look forward to comments and suggestions.

The Hofgarten Kempten

Filed under visual images , panoramas

Located in the city center of Kempten, framed by the residence, the Basilica of St. Lawrence and the orangery, the Kempten Hofgarten. The symmetrically designed park in the French style is part of the system of residence of the abbots pen city of Kempten.

The above panoramic image of a 360 ° view of the courtyard garden was included in the HDR process. Several frames in different exposure levels are combined into one image to increase the dynamic range of the image. A total of 24 individual photos of this were needed, which were then allocated to each other. Using the same technique was also the following view of the St. Lawrence Basilica.

The opposite side of the courtyard garden will be completed by the Orangery. This now houses the town library of Kempten.

London in widescreen

Pictures show the property to always have a certain section. This must not necessarily be a disadvantage. The focus on a particular detail can be very exciting. But if there is a view in a city enjoys, or is at a great place, it is mainly the overall impression of the exercise special fascination.

By the end of my small London show I've saved it to me: London in widescreen:

In 1910, the upper course of the Tower Bridge was closed. Only in 1982 they were re-opened and have since been used as a museum. It is worth a visit if only because of the view of the Thames. If you look towards the east, showing on the right bank of the famous Tower of London. Exactly opposite is the London City Hall. The 45 meters high, lump-like building is in the picture (2001) still under construction. It was opened in July 2002. The form of the Norman Foster-designed City Hall is controversial and compared with numerous items, including the helmet of Darth Vader, a depressed egg, a motorcycle helmet or a "glass testicle".

The panorama shows a section of about 170 °. To view you need the Java plugin for your browser. If it is installed on your computer, you can simply click on the thumbnail.

The British Museum is one of the largest and most important cultural and historical museums in the world. Placed finish in 1848, it was designed with a square floor plan of Robert Smirke. The picture shows the courtyard can be seen, with 7,100 square meters which is the largest covered public square in Europe. The steel and glass construction of the roof consists of 1656 pairs of glass plates and was completed in 2000. The glass roof was designed by architect Sir Norman Foster, who is also responsible for the City Hall in London and the glass dome of the Reichstag in Berlin. The picture shows a section of about 185 °.

St. Paul's Cathedral is the main church of the diocese of London. Its dome is 111 feet high. 111 meters 365 feet correspond, therefore, for each day of the year. The cathedral is one of the largest religious buildings in the world and the dome is the second largest after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Above the dome is a viewing platform, which can be climbed via 530 steps. From there you have a spectacular view of the city. Consists of 14 individual recordings of this 360 degree panorama of the skyline of London. But only for heights :-) .

Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament) and Big Ben is one of the most monumental building on the Thames. The oldest part of this palace built in neo-Gothic style goes back to 1067th It houses the British Parliament - the upper and lower houses. The two panoramic images provide a wonderful pan (about 190 degrees) over the Thames between Lambeth Bridge and Westminster Bridge respectively just before and just after sunset.

Since the Middle Ages is considered the center of Trafalgar Square in London. It is the largest square in London and a popular tourist destination, meeting and demonstration space. The column in the middle (Nelson Column) honors Admiral Lord Nelson's victory for the British against the French at the Battle of Trafalgar. 2003 after extensive renovations of the space was re-opened to the public. The two panoramas (360 degrees) allow a complete panoramic view before renovation (2001) and later (2008).

Queen Elizabeth I, personally, it was that on 23 January 1571 the first stock exchange opened in the city of London. The Royal Exchange has been in its history, repeatedly destroyed by fires (1666 and 1838). The building in classical style, as in the panorama of the square (approx. 170 °) can be seen, was handed over in 1844 by Queen Victoria in its determination.

Last but not least: the "most colorful crossroads" of London - the Picaddilly Circus. Like a giant billboard facades of adjacent buildings are plastered with giant screens. Here you can feel the metropolitan city ...

Already a few days ago I had the article in Buckingham Palace presented this picture before. Suitable for content, I want the 360-degree panorama of Buckingham Palace and the Queen Victorioas monument still insert here again.

Rothenburg: 360 ° Panorama

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a large district in the Central Franconian district of Ansbach. Until 1803 there was a free imperial city and, with its largely preserved medieval old town a world-renowned tourist attraction.

Reason enough to look once past has to offer in the Middle Franconian city of about eleven thousand inhabitants, with your Sun Rothenburg is located on the "Romantic Road" in Tauber Valley. The city was first mentioned in 970 as the Detwang is a neighborhood of Rothenburg today. On 15 May 1274, the city became a free imperial city collected. In the checkered history of the city remained remarkably well preserved buildings. At least until 31 March 1945, when the attack by a squadron of the 386th Bombardment Group was the U.S. Air Force for almost half of the city damaged or destroyed. As a result, the city was rebuilt in its original form and is once again to become a tourist attraction.

The square is surrounded with some interesting buildings. Reason enough for me to make a 360 degree panorama of which:
